The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) seeks an Archivist/Records Manager to oversee the Association s records retention management process for the office of Finance and Administration.
Major duties and responsibilities:
* Develop and implement appropriate procedures that reflect legal and/or operational requirements to retain or destroy records; work with staff in various departments to ensure compliance
* Establish records retention schedules for physical and electronic records
* Review the status and destruction of physical records both stored off and on-site
* Create on-line Encoded Archival Description finding aids for collections and maintain the AAAS Archives website
* Arrange, describe and preserve approximately 3,500 linear feet of records
* Provide access to historical records as requested by staff and outside researchers
Minimum qualifications:
* Extensive university or college level training leading to a Bachelor s degree in a relevant field
* Three to five years experience in appraising, describing and scheduling records
* Demonstrated experience in developing classification plans and retention schedules for both paper and electronic records systems
* Ability to multi-task, prioritize and set goals.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
