Operations Supervisor

About us:

Job Summary:

As an Operations Supervisor during the start-up phase of NEIH operations, the chosen candidate will be responsible for supporting our military business programs. This position will report to the Director of Operations and Business Development and will work very closely with company leadership, program management, quality assurance and other operational leaders, internal and external customers, cognizant government personnel and other sites within Nammo AS.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as an Industrial Specialist for all start- up activities related to Operations and Facility development.
  • Oversee and coordinate all operational safety, security and environmental (SSE) requirements with the Government site lead in these areas, and ensure all NEIH policies and procedures reflect these requirements.
  • Provide supplementary support to residential Government SSE representative (s) with respect to SSE compliance, hazardous waste disposal and pollution reduction activities.
  • Interpret EPA, OSHA, OP5 and NSWCIHEODTDINST 5100.22 (series) regulations and Hazardous Operations Standards to ensure compliance for energetic facility construction and operation, process, changes and new design.
  • Review facility tooling, equipment and product design and procedures to ensure SSE compliance.
  • Interface with customers and suppliers regarding facility and manufacturing requirements for integration into NEIH operational policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with quality assurance to obtain AS9100 quality system certification.
  • Identify workplace environmental and safety risks and work with Operations and Engineering to eliminate or mitigate risks.
  • Review and approve Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) reports and structured FMEAs for Energetic Operations.
  • Investigate and ensure effective corrective actions are implemented for injuries, incidents and safety audits.
  • Perform safety reviews/ approvals for procedure changes, drawings and process change requests.
  • Review and approve Hot Work Permits, Confined Spaces and Area Entry permits.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions for ideas and problem solving.
  • Frequent use and applications of technical standards, principals, theories, concepts and techniques.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  • Write reports, business correspondence and procedures.
  • Present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and customers.
  • Provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate to complex scope and complexity.
  • Travel as needed (approximately 5%).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Job Qualifications (Education/Skills/Experience):

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical and/or Aerospace Engineering with 5 years of related work experience preferred, or Chemical Engineering or Physics with applicable experience, or a minimum of 15 years of experience in related job position.

COMPUTER SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office software: Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook. Working knowledge of solid modeling and 2D drawing creation.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of DOD 4145.26M
Energetics and Explosives Hazardous Analysis application and understanding, and experience in performing Process Hazards Analysis.
Working knowledge of Industrial Safety Standards, including OSHA regulations, and Process Safety Management (PSM)
Experience with manufacturing safety procedures, including energetic operations, and working knowledge of Government Safety Siting regulations is a plus.
Good communications skills, both written and verbal.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

The chosen candidate must be able to obtain BATF approval to work with our products. Ability to qualify for and if necessary obtain DoD security clearance.
