Overall Job Objective

What Success Looks Like In This Job

Provides oversight of weekend on-call staff and direct supervision of 1-2 hotline staff. 
Receives and reviews reports of alleged maltreatment and determines whether an immediate response is needed to ensure child(ren) safety.  Ensures that quality assessments and services are provided for children who are the subjects of reports of abuse and neglect.  Provides case consultation, staff guidance, quality assurance, and develops staff capacity through training, coaching, and mentoring. Guides and supports the hotline staff in processing high quality referrals of abuse and neglect.  Nurtures and maintains relationships with the community to better enhance and streamline after hours/weekend processes and responses to incidents of maltreatment.

Examples of Duties for Success

  • Provides weekly supervision and team supervision to ensure an effective workforce. Provides training support and ongoing mentoring for on-call and screening staff.
  • Provides consultation regarding child protection assessments, decision making, and case planning.
  • Takes referrals of child abuse/neglect from the community received by telephone, via fax, email or mail.  Processes referrals through the State Hotline System.  Obtains pertinent information as mandated by Volume 7, including dates, names, addresses, and abuse/neglect allegations accurately. Gathers detailed descriptions of the original allegations from the reporting party along with additional questions related to abuse and neglect
  • Obtains information from case history to make decisions around imminent safety/risk to children.
  • Ensures the compliance of county, state, and federal mandates and utilization of tools identified in assessing the safety/risk of children. Evaluates the performance of casework staff and addresses developmental and educational training needs.
  • Nurtures community partnerships to enhance service delivery program development in other related agencies, and the community at large.
  • Ability to use various electronic systems including TRAILS, State Hotline, Mango, ROM, and Microsoft programs.
  • Participates in scheduled Red Teams on Mondays and Fridays, and in Red Team Secondary Reviews throughout their 4-day shift
  • Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Works Friday through Monday

Qualifications for Success

  • Experience: Four (4) years of full time professional social casework experience acquired after the degree in a public or private social services agency in an area appropriate to the position
  • Education and Training: 
    • Bachelor's Degree in one of the human behavioral science fields.
    • A Bachelor's of Social work may substitute for 1 year of the required experience.
    • An MSW may substitute for 2 years of the required experience.
    • Proof of education, (degree or transcripts,) and license (if candidate has received one) are required.
  • License or Certificate:
    • Must be eligible to become a certified supervisor through the State Child Welfare Academy or already be certified.
    • Possession of a Colorado Driver's License and proof of automotive insurance.
  • Background Check: Must pass a criminal background check.

More Qualifications for Success

  • Other: Must utilize a personal vehicle to get to many appointments in the local community and surrounding areas within Colorado
    • PLEASE NOTE: The Weekend Supervisor shift is as follows:
    • Fridays: 8am to 2pm
    • Saturday: 8am to 8pm (with Manager approval a portion of the shift may be worked from home if volume allows after 4:30pm)
    • Sunday: 8am to 8pm (With Manager approval a portion of the shift may be worked from home if volume allows- after 4:30pm)
    • Monday: 1pm to 11:30pm (in-house from 1-8:30pm, from home 8:30-11:30pm if volume allows) ** Option to cover the 11:30-8am on-call shift from home-this shift is paid a flat rate.  If weekend supervisor declines the 11:30-8am on-call shift, the shift will be offered to on-call supervisors.
