Child Nutrition Manager

To effect the efficient operation of food service routines and practices
associated with a busy food service operation.
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Must be able to
demonstrate mastery of skills needed to complete performance responsibilities
Effective verbal and written communication skills as well as a high
degree of literacy and mental capabilities
Accurate typing and ten-key skills, familiarity with computer applications
such as spreadsheets and word processing.
Knowledge and use of commercial food service equipment.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as may be considered
appropriate and acceptable.
Must be able to read and understand ingredient and chemical labels,
warnings, recipes, and product information written in English.
Must have basic math skills and be able to correctly measure recipe ingredients.
Must demonstrate basic reading and math comprehension.
Completion of courses pertaining to quantity food preparation, food service
management, nutrition, sanitation, and supervision is desirable.
A pre-employment physical examination is required at applicant’s expense.
TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, AND DEVICES USED OR OPERATED:
Commercial food mixers; slicers; ranges; ovens; other gas, steam and electrical
food preparation equipment; food preparation and service utensils; and
point-of-sale computers and cash registers.
Must be able to work effectively with school personnel, subordinates,
students, parents and community groups
Must be able to work as a team member
Must be able to handle a frequent change of task
Exposure to ambient noise level
Ability to maintain professional demeanor under stress
Occasional exertion of a heavy force of up to 50 pounds and/or
frequent exertion of a medium force of 21 to 40 pounds.
Be able to bend and stoop and frequently stand, walk and transport objects.
Exposure to cold and hot working conditions for periods of time
Exposure to chemical fumes, cooking odors and vapors
Possess good mental health in order to perform all job requirements.
Be average or better in energy, health and vitality.
One year experience in supervision of food service employees, menu
planning, food ordering, food service record keeping, and in preparing
and serving varied and balanced menus is desirable.
