Arizona PBS, one of the nation’s largest and most forward-thinking public media enterprises, is seeking a director of revenue to dramatically increase net revenue, leading to new original content and new audiences to maximize its mission of serving lifelong learners across Arizona and the U.S. This newly created position was conceived as part of an organizational redesign intended to transform the station into a model public media enterprise for the digital age.
The position, which reports directly to the general manager, will lead three teams responsible for revenue generation: development (major and planned gifts), annual giving (membership gifts) and underwriting. The director also will work closely with a newly created audience analytics and development team within Arizona PBS and a soon-to-be launched products design team in the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University, which operates Arizona PBS.


Essential Duties

The director will be responsible for leading the significant expansion of net revenue generation across all three units. Additionally, the director will be charged with creating, designing and executing new revenue streams.

An MBA or equivalent advanced degree desired. The successful candidate must be highly strategic, data driven, creative and innovative, with a track record of revenue generation, leadership, collaboration, innovation and applied creativity. The director will serve on the executive team of Arizona PBS, which is located in the nation’s 12th largest TV market and distributes content through four TV channels that reach nearly 2 million households and a fast-growing digital platform.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND eight (8) years of related administrative experience, which includes five (5) years of supervisory experience; OR, Twelve (12) years of related administrative experience, which includes five (5) years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

  • Experience in revenue generation
  • Demonstrated knowledge of budget management methods and techniques
  • Demonstrated knowledge of principles, practices, and methods in data tracking and data analysis
  • Experience in planning, analyzing and coordinating activities and establishing priorities
  • Experience in effectively managing, supervising and evaluating assigned staff
  • Evidence of effective verbal and written communication
  • Experience in program design and development
  • Experience in interfacing with diverse client groups with an emphasis on customer service
  • Experience in communicating both internally and externally across all management levels and building sustaining relationships


Working Environment

Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.May be required to perform tasks in the field within and/or across University campuses.Ability to clearly communicate verbally, read, write, see and hear to perform essential functions.
