Centers Laboratory is actively seeking an experienced Accessioning Supervisor for our Laboratory in Brooklyn, NY!

 

Reports to: Laboratory Manager

Position Summary:

Accessioning Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of the Accessioning Department which performs both pre-analytical and post-analytical sample processing activities.  Must ensure that all processes within the Accessioning department are performed and documented according to the established SOP’s and aligned with corporate goals.

a. Qualifications: High School Diploma. Proficient keyboarding and Microsoft Office skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally. Must have at least 3 or more years experienced as Accessioning Supervisor. Worked in accessioning department for 5 years or more.

b. Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the development and implementation of process improvement project.
  • Establish review and implement training plans and checklists to ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot sample, system and process issues raised by staff and customers.
  • Collaborate with IT and other cross-functional teams to identify and resolve ongoing process or system issues.
  • Support corporate or customer-experience improvement projects by providing ideas and resolutions.
  • Supervise packing and shipping of specimens to ensure the integrity of specimens sent to other laboratories.

  • Investigate/resolves and responds in a timely manner to internal and external customer complaints appropriately and effectively.
  • Ensure all employees receive adequate training and meet competency requirements according to NYSDOH standards.
  • Monitor on-going performance of employees: provide corrective action and counseling as required.
  • Prepare and administer annual performance appraisals.
  • Generate reports.
  • Prepares schedules, maintain adequate coverage for the department and track time/attendance of employees.
  • Participate in applicant job interview, selection and hiring of new employees.
  • Oversee and ensure adequate supply inventory for the department.
  • Responsible for daily accessioning operation.
  • Collaborate closely with lab management and report pertinent issues as required.
  • Participate in internal and external audits.
  • Performs all the duties of an Accessioner in addition to the supervisory role.
