ABOUT THIS POSITION
The Survey Supervisor participates in the performance of highly specialized and complex professional survey engineering work. Survey Supervisors perform under the general direction of the Survey Engineer who reviews work on the basis of results achieved and the ability to meet scheduled deadlines. This position requires knowledge of surveying principles, rules, and regulations governing land surveying as defined in the Arizona Revised Statutes. Applicants should also have knowledge of Field survey engineering methods and techniques, and Civil Engineering and survey terminology. Qualified applicants should have experience planning, coordinating and supervising the work of several field survey crews, instructing survey crews in the field layout of the more difficult construction projects, and in performing other aspects of survey work. Applicants should also have experience working with public utilities, contractors, and subcontractors during construction to provide continuity in the assignment of survey crews and reviewing plans, performing calculations, documents, and details for survey information. Applicant must have experience in documenting the measurement of completed construction work to determine "as-builts" quantities for construction projects and have experience with software and survey data / notes related to "Asbuilt preparation" and "Asset Management".
Currently, there is one vacancy in the Street Transportation Department. This position will supervise 10 positions including Party Chiefs, Instrument Technicians, and Survey Aides.
This recruitment may be used by any department for any current or future vacancies over the life of the eligible list.

$54,392 - $81,245 annually. Candidates may be hired above the minimum depending upon qualifications.

Five years of experience in technical survey engineering work
Two years of experience leading survey crew activities
An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be considered.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Includes the job requirements listed above, plus:
American Congress on Survey & Mapping (ACSM) Certified Survey Technician (CST) Level III certification or higher or equivalent
Two years of experience working with Civil 3D ACAD and associated routines related to the calculations of points, cutsheets used in the field and an understanding of coordinate geometry related to producing lines or areas from legal descriptions.
Two years of experience working with GPS, Arizona State Plane Coordinates and the adjustments required to recognize GRID and GROUND values
Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT) certification or ability to obtain within one year
Survey project management experience
