Job Description
The role of the Data Steward, Senior Advisor is to strategically manage assigned data entities across the enterprise while ensuring high levels of data quality, integrity, availability, and privacy. This individual is responsible for standardizing data naming, establishing consistent data definitions, and monitoring/auditing the data quality. The Data Steward, Senior Advisor should focus on business benefits, foster the goal of data re-use and articulate the strategic significance of information to the organization.

Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Serve as the single point of contact for assigned data entities.
- Part of a dedicated group of individuals, dedicated to maintaining and enhancing the overall quality of the customer and product data from each disparate source system.
- Perform data quality checks for each data source system.
- Resolve profile and affiliation issues on a case-by-case basis.

Process Development and Documentation
- Recommend, design, implement and monitor quality procedures for use in the data production process.
- Design and own process improvements for data quality analysis, auditing, tracking, cleansing, and escalation to ensure high quality data within various systems
- Recommend maintenance enhancements to data acquisition processes to improve accuracy of data

Data Stewardship - including Data Cleansing, Data Quality, Data Integration
- Using Data Quality tools, build, test, and execute logical business rules for quality based on the requirements as defined by data owners.
- Be accountable for integrity and quality of data personally created/updated.
- Establish requirements and assess the quality and accuracy of the data in the source
- Proactively monitor and cleanse client data across the enterprise
- Develop data mapping and business rules to match, merge, and integrate external data with Warehouse data
- Develop hierarchy rules for conforming disparate sources of data and creating mastered client and account records
- Metadata and Reference Data Management
- Maintain reference tables with permitted values and work with Data Governance when changes are needed
- Maintain company identifiers and cross reference tables.
Document metadata, business rules, and quality rules for assigned Business Terms

Data Issue Management and Resolution
- Identify, assess, fix, document, and communicate potential quality issues in the way data is collected, stored, processed, or used.
- Act as an initial point of contact for data-related issues, and raise quality issues to the Data Owners as needed.
- Troubleshoot data errors with data providers (internal and external) to resolve data quality problems using techniques such as root cause analysis and collecting user requirements.
- Review, correct, and approve data quality exceptions using data quality tools for remediation.

The Data Steward works closely with internal team members, data governance analysts, ETL developers, data architects, business partners, and other stakeholders to gain an understanding of data needs as well as:

- Uphold data governance policies and standards to ensure consistent data definitions and monitor overall data quality for assigned data entities.
- Ensure that data management methodologies include the steps, activities, and deliverables required to consistently achieve high-quality data.
- Ensure that the applications and business units adhere to defined DG practices, policies and procedures. Identify and manage the resolution of data quality issues, such as uniqueness, integrity, accuracy, consistency, and completeness in a cost-effective and timely fashion.
- Work as the data domain expert and liaison between I.T. and business units for the assigned data entities.
- Participate in Data Governance Council meetings.
- Perform additional process analysis, implementation as requested by the management team.
- Perform special projects for internal and external customers as directed
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, integrity, consistency, and timeliness of data
- Develop an in-depth understanding of key drivers of performance by utilizing statistics and data analysis
- Create documentation relating to process and data management including training guides, report specifications, and data dictionaries
- Create and maintain data attributes for customers, suppliers and items.
- Perform validation and corrections via audit reports to ensure standardization daily

Required Qualifications
8 years of Data Steward experience.

Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of the database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze large quantities of data.
- Demonstrated understanding of operations and data structures
- Demonstrated effectiveness working in a dynamic and changing environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proven passion for the data quality discipline
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment strongly preferred
- Experience with data processing flowcharting techniques preferred.
- Must be able to represent the data governance council and business units as a key subject matter expert and resource for the assigned data entity.
- Exceptional analytical, conceptual and problem-solving abilities required.
- Strong written, technical documentation and oral communication skills.
- Strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Computer Science, Business, or Management Information Systems Required
