Job Description

General Description: The Aquatics Director employed with Interlachen Country Club will be responsible for the efficient and effective operation of the entire pool facility and surrounding pool area. This position is also responsible for the health, safety, sanitation, and welfare of those using the Club's swimming pool. This position is under the direct supervision of the GM/COO. The Aquatics Director is responsible for following and carrying out all the Club's expectations and polices.


    -Must have current American Red Cross certification as required by Club. Must administer first aid or CPR in an emergency.
    -Hires, trains, supervises and evaluates staff, with assistance of the General Manager and Human Resources.
    -Assigns lifeguard work schedule in accordance with events, weather and budget. Assigns rotation schedule and lunch breaks for guards on duty.
    -Observes daily sanitation requirements by checking water conditions for chlorine and PH (acidity) content. Performs water tests and maintains daily log of water test conditions for the inspection of local health agency.
    -Acts responsibly, obeys all Club rules and leads others by example.
    -Assures that all lifeguard staff wears appropriate uniforms and safety equipment.
    -Responsible for/oversees vacuuming pool bottom, emptying skimmers and skimming debris from surface to prepare pool for daily use.
    -Responsible for/oversees washing down deck and all deck furniture to prepare for daily use. Responsible for keeping furniture neat and organized throughout daily operations.
    -Supervises and observes members and guests in and around pool to assure their safety. Enforces all Aquatic by-laws and rules equally and fairly. Informs patrons of potential injuries or risk while on duty.
    -Must be present for orientation, in-service training and staff meetings. Must be able to work summer holidays - Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day.
    -Responsible for/oversees checking and cleaning locker rooms hourly throughout the day. Responsible for/oversees stocking towels in locker rooms and outside cabinet and washing towels if necessary.
    -Responsible for/oversees proper sign-in of Members and Guests and hands out towels.
    -In charge of chit procedures for pool guests and lessons.
    -Maintains and keeps all necessary records concerning pool attendance, pool chemicals, accident reports, Member rules violations, etc.
    -Assist in coaching of the Interlachen swim team. Supervises swim team practices, events and all other swim teams.
    -Reports any malfunction of equipment to the General Manager. Reports and documents any potential hazards.
    -Recognizes and responds to all emergency situations. Uses and implements facility emergency plan for severe weather conditions and emergency situations.
    -Administers to minor cuts and bruises of swimmers. Documents first aid and reports to Management any accidents or injuries.
    -Performs all other duties as assigned by the GM/COO.
