Under limited supervision, supervises lower level employees and performs and coordinates complex laboratory duties. The Laboratory Supervisor will organize and coordinate studies in addition to documenting laboratory work and maintaining laboratory equipment and supplies. The work is performed in a highly regulated environment and compliance with documentation standards is required.
Bachelor's degree in a scientific area or with comparable course work and a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained.
Must have a demonstrated ability to successfully perform a variety of routine laboratory procedures using standard laboratory equipment and instruments. Individual must have knowledge of scientific research principles, practices, and procedures and must be able to analyze and report data. Must have the ability to design, organize, and/or coordinate scientific research projects
Requires strong professional-level written and verbal communication skills, excellent problem-solving and decision making skills, excellent judgement the ability to work independently and as a part of a team. Must have the ability to lead and train staff and students. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office, as well as the ability to learn department-specific computer systems as needed.
