Position Summary: This position drives Schneider Electric export compliance through frequent trainings, stakeholders' engagements and management, monitoring & communicating of regulatory changes and updates as well as implementation of new and continuous improvement of processes.  Reports to the Global Export Control Director, Global Export Control Center of Excellence (CoE). Works within a matrix management representing the Global Export Control Center of Excellence in the Americas region in driving the global export control compliance program.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Ensures adherence to Americas export compliance regulations and requirements representing the Global Export Control Center of Excellence (CoE) in the region
  • Be the subject-matter-export (SME) on Americas export compliance regulations and requirements.
  • Conducts reviews & audits at Schneider Electric sites, generates reports to senior management and leads improvement activities.
  • Performs training of personnel at all levels on a frequent basis. Advises Schneider Electric sites of new regulations and how they affect business processes.
  • Generates procedures that are “self-checking” ensuring adherence to export control related regulations.
  • Works closely with Schneider Electric sites empowered officials and coordinators to ensure continuous improvement of all export control related systems, policies and procedures.
  • Leads all internal investigations and promptly reports the results of any investigations to Schneider Electric management.
  • Provide support to Empowered Official of the company for ITAR purposes.
  • Assist in the management of the company's overall trade compliance operations.  This may include the preparation and submission of export licenses and agreements as well as the monitoring the implementation of technology control plans and other export and import compliance related procedures and work instructions.
  • Dot-line manage and support other functional employees in Americas region with certain trade compliance responsibilities as applicable.
  • Evaluate and support the work of the company's trade compliance support staff in multiple locations.
  • Lead or participate in inter functional projects relating to trade compliance.
  • Provide support and guidance to outside functional groups for export and import compliance issues.
  • Identify and report to Schneider Electric any potential violations of trade compliance laws and compliance violations and any incidents involving significant weaknesses in processes or procedures.
  • Provide necessary trade compliance training and updates for employees having export compliance functions.
  • Work with other departments on strategic planning to ensure efficiency and cost effectiveness in areas that involve export compliance.
  • Maintain and assist with the implementation of company export compliance procedures and work instructions
  • When needed, review and validate the export classifications of parts, material, data, and services.
  • Create processes to identify products for which Commodity Jurisdiction (CJ) determinations or Commodity Classification Requests (CCATS) and prepare ruling requests when appropriate.
  • Support the preparation and monitor export licenses, agreements, shipping documents and other underlying documentation for accurate compliance with ITAR, EAR and other applicable regulations.
  • Correspond with Purchasing/Procurement department and outside vendors and service providers to obtain and /or provide documentation and information required for trade compliance purposes.
  • Perform internal audits and reviews of records and process files for completeness, accuracy and consistency with compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Support internal, external, and government directed export compliance audits and assessments.
  • Attend export compliance seminars/conferences to maintain knowledge on regulatory updates and changes.
  • Assist in preparation of letters and other correspondence to vendors, brokers, and other parties involved in export or import transactions.
  • Develop and prepare periodic updates and metrics reports for export and import operations for.



·       Must be a U.S. person, as defined by ITAR

·       Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree helpful

·       Competent export compliance experience required, preferable in a multinational company

·       Detailed and extensive knowledge and experience of the EAR and ITAR regulations, including classification, licensing, reporting and export program development & management.

·       25% travel domestically and internationally when required

·       Proficiency with Customs, OFAC, FTR and other relevant trade compliance regulations

·       Demonstrated ability to lead teams and projects

·       Proficiency with MS office applications

·       Excellent oral and written skills
