SDH Engineering Supervisor
JOB SUMMARY
Directs all maintenance activities, prepare and manage preventive maintenance. This is a hands-on position that will require you to coordinate and also perform repairs. Responsible for creating and maintaining a harmonious and dynamic work environment. Reports to the Engineering Manager or the Director of Engineering.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum Work Experience
Prefer 5 years with minimum of two years’ experience in a supervisory capacity in a maintenance/plant related position.
Required Skills
Must be knowledgeable of boilers, compressors, generators. Etc. Must be able to use a variety of word- processing, database and spreadsheet software applications and programs. Knowledge of basic copy and duplication procedures required. Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Follow up on daily work assignments
Directs the work of employees Schedules lunch and rest breaks
Reassigns employees from one area to another area as facility needs dictate Receives and discusses with supervisor complaints
Establishes and expedites work orders as needed, prioritizes work orders. Participates in repair work such as masonry, carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical and HVAC
Schedules, delegates or completes work orders
Monitors work order for completion on a timely basis
Keeps accurate records of maintenance performed Recommends building equipment improvements
Performs required maintenance checks of building, grounds, facility and equipment
Develops and maintains a current inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, equipment and stock
Responsible for conducting routine tests of various systems and equipment such as the emergency generator, fire alarm, sprinkler system, hood and duct system, door alarms, nurse call system and hot water systems
Lifts and/or moves equipment, supplies and furnishings as required
Checks quality of work performed by contractors. Assures building and safety codes are adhered to Obtains bids for facility capital expenditures
Orders approved supplies, materials and equipment for the maintenance department within budgetary constraints and approval from Engineering Manager and/or Engineering Director.
Responds to questions, resolve problems and provide technical and other assistance to supervisors and staff completing assigned work.
Coordinates maintenance services with all other departments and services
Completes forms and reports as required. Maintains records of maintenance activities
Safety
Knows and follows facility rules
Reports all hazardous conditions/equipment to Engineering Manager or the Director of Engineering. Performs duties which may include transportation of patients as assigned in facility disaster plan Uses required protective equipment
Follows infection control standards, policies and procedures Reports patient complaints to management
Maintains confidentiality of patient information
Additional
May be on call for emergencies 24 hours a day. Works overtime, holiday and weekend hours as scheduled. Treats all patients, visitors and staff with courtesy
Follow facility dress and hygiene policies Other duties as assigned
FUNCTIONAL DEMANDS
Medium physical exertion; exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, or negligible to 10 pounds of force continually to life, carry, push, pull or move objects. Standing, walking and/or other positional physical movements may be occasional to frequent. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment such as computer keyboard, mouse, calculator and/or other supplies.
Visual and auditory acuity and manual dexterity essential to performing designated duties required. Ability to perform effectively in a stressful and fast paced environment.
Ability to pass all required health and other screening tests.
Physical conditions are clean, neat and well lit. May be subjected to unpleasant sights and odors, stressful situations and hazardous or infectious agents where judgment as to precautions need to be taken is essential. Climate control and ambient temperature variances may be experienced. Exposure to limited amounts of hazardous chemicals or substances and infectious disease processes are a possibility. Hours of duty may be irregular or unexpectedly extended due to emergency circumstances.
Direct contact with blood or other body fluids to which universal precautions apply. Personal protective equipment is made available and must be worn.
