  • Overview

    Responsible for the management and supervision of UMG Shared Services staff. maintains Epic and computer-based computer systems. Requests/prepares regular and ad hoc reporting for operational and trouble-shooting purposes. Ensures maximization of cash flow while improving patient, physician, and other customer relations. Acts in multiple liaison roles between University Hospital, physicians, system vendors, patients, and other hospital staff. Will be responsible for working with the practice manaers to improve work flows in the office to reduce denials.

    Responsibilities

    * Shared Services Manager

    1. Manages functional area providing pre-registration, authorization, referrals, and centralized scheduling
    2. Ensures services provided are timely, compliant, and operations are efficient and effective to meet organizational
    3. Meets organizational goals regarding collections, denials, and patient access for C BO and professional component claims to include maximizing collections, minimizing avoidable write-offs, and maintaining streamlined processes in order to expedite efficient turn-around.
    4. Ensures adequate reporting, tracking, and trending of key operational metrics are in
    5. Regularly reviews and identifies developing issues/work
    6. Initiates ad hoc audits and reporting as necessary in order to diagnose/ support resolution of identified issues and to confirm success of
    7. Manages and organizes the work of employees to ensure timely and accurate completion of
    8. C ontinually reviews work processes to make improvements as
    9. Promptly deals with employee/physician
    10. Manages the business office within the established budget; including annual planning and developing monthly status

    Manages functional area providing centralized billing, insurance verification/authorization, billing and collection services to ensure appropriate processes are

    1. Ensures services are timely and works with outside vendors and contractors to assuring support and/or services are provided

    1. Manages purchasing and accounts payable for current and future vendors.

    1. Plans and directs shared services staff accounts
    2. Manages staff appropriately; cross train, process improvement, accountability and
    3. Interviews, employs, and trains
    4. C ompletes performance appraisals by established
    5. Reviews and updates job descriptions, job procedures and performance standards for areas of responsibility annually or as
    6. C onducts monthly section

    1. Performs other regular/ad hoc duties and projects as identified and/or requested by the Director of the Physician Revenue Cycle.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    High School Diploma or GED required.

    Associate’s or Bachelor's Degree in Business Management or related field preferred. C ompletion of Medical Terminology course required within six (6) months of hire.

    Licensure/Certification:

    C ertified Professional C oder (C PC ) or C ertified Medical C oder (C MC ), C ertified Patient Account Representative (C PAR), C ertified Medical Office Manager (C MOM), or other equivalent preferred.

    Experience:

    High School Diploma or GED with eight (8) years benefits and eligibility experience to include multi-specialty physician practices (two of which must include supervisory/management experience). Must have experience with medical billing software systems. Experience with Epic strongly preferred. Experience with capital and expense budgets preparation in a business setting preferred.

    Associate’s Degree in Business Management or related field with six (6) years benefits and eligibility experience to include multi- specialty physician practices (two of which must include supervisory/management experience). Must have experience with medical billing software systems. Experience with Epic strongly preferred. Experience with capital and expense budgets preparation in a business setting preferred.

    Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or related field with four (4) years benefits and eligibility experience to include multi- specialty physician practices (two of which must include supervisory/management experience). Must have experience with medical billing software systems. Experience with Epic strongly preferred. Experience with capital and expense budgets preparation in a business setting preferred.
