Position Summary

The Center for Development and Disability (CDD), established in 1990, is New Mexico's University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research and Service. These centers, authorized by the Developmental

Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act, build the capacities of states and communities to respond to the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

This position will oversee the continued programmatic development of Camp Rising Sun. CRS has functioned for 11 years as a residential camp for individuals with ASD and a venue for training University students and community providers.This position will provide outreach activities to community programs that may enroll and include individuals with ASD by intentional organization and training of staff and volunteers.This position will assess the needs of community programs in terms of needed training, technical assistance and consultation and will coordinate that support.

It is expected that this position will explore many avenues and venues for community access for individuals with ASD and will be required to establish linkages to these programs with the Autism Programs at the CDD.This position will be the principle point of contact between community programs and the University. Statewide travel is required.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working with and advocating for persons with ASD.

  • Working with programs that support self-determination for individuals with disabilities including ASD.

  • With providing consultation, training and technical assistance to community providers.

  • Mental/behavioral licensed clinician.
