OBJECTIVE:

(1) To support the Executive Director in the care and treatment of residents entrusted to the facility. To serve as a liaison and role model to the community for the facility. Represents the Social Service department, other care center staff and the facility as a whole to the community. Upholds the values and mission of Volunteers of America National Services to peers and the public. (2) Customers include residents of the facility and their families, local healthcare professionals who work with the facility and staff, and the facility staff managers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Therapeutic Recreation, or related degree in social sciences (preferred), with current state licensure.
2. Minimum of one-year of experience, preferably in a long-term healthcare setting; has knowledge of medical and public health settings, principles of public welfare and knowledge of social and health resources of the community.
3. Must be able to communicate and work effectively with various levels of staff, residents, family members and the public.
4. Must be able and willing to work flexible hours, such as during evenings and weekends, for family meetings and conferences; educational programs, admission inquiries or admissions on as needed basis.
5. Must be able to handle stressful situations, often dealing with tragic circumstances.
6. Ability to utilize computers and other electronic devices for tasks such as timekeeping, in-servicing and documentation.
