Under the guidance of the Assistant Director of Dining Services and the Director of Dining Services, is responsible for overall supervision of the Ocotillo Dining Room, Garden Café, or Health Care Center dining as assigned in the absence of their respective managers. Will assist with other dining related operational functions as necessary as well as special events. Will be required to be flexible in scheduling to include availability for opening and closing shifts as assigned. May be required to work shifts "in position" as necessary.

 

Qualifications:

* High School Graduate

* Minimum 3 years of experience working in the various dining related disciplines at a retirement community

o Nursing facility dining, assisted living facility dining, independent living dining and retail dining in a retirement community

* Ability to read, understand and follow recipe directions, and work assignments

* Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions

* Numerical ability is necessary for recipe preparation and proper measuring of cleaning agents and chemicals

* Good motor coordination and manual dexterity are required for various work routines

* Preparing food items

* Serving meals

* Handling soiled dishes

* Operating dietary equipment

* Cleaning work area

* Dining Resource Supervisor will be able and willing to work flexible hours, such as during an emergency situation and must be patient and tolerant toward staff, residents, and family members.

 

 

Physical Requirements:

* Stands and walks intermittently throughout the working day

o Reaches, stoops, bends, lifts, carries, and manipulates various food products, dietary supplies and equipment

* Ability to work with chemicals and cleaning agents

* Must be able to lift and/or carry 50 to 75 pounds

* Withstand exposure to temperature and humidity changes as in entering refrigerated storage areas, working at ovens, ranges and dish-washing machines

* Must be free from infections or diseases

 

 

 

 

 

Duties:

* Perform defined work routines as necessary and assigned by management

* Provide feedback discipline managers of any issues related to the operation of assigned duty stations or venues

* Supervise as assigned all operational aspects of assigned venues or work locations

* Follow Federal and State long term care regulations and Dietary Department policies and procedures

* Follow and enforce as necessary cleaning schedules and perform cleaning duties as scheduled

* Will, when assigned to, supervise and oversee the setting of dining rooms, assisting in taking orders, operating point of sale equipment and serving residents

* Follow established reporting procedures for the following:

o Supply or equipment needs

o Any damaged or loose fixtures, flooring, or tiling requiring replacement or repair

o Any unsafe or malfunctioning equipment

o Any conditions conducive to breeding insects, rodents or other vermin

* Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies

* Attend in-service educational programs

* Follow defined safety codes while performing all duties

* Follow defined Infection Control procedures

* Understand facility’s fire and disaster plans: follow established procedures during drills and actual emergencies

* Be knowledgeable of Federal, State, and Facility’s rules, regulations, policies and procedures

* Perform other department duties or special assignments as directed by the Ocotillo Dining Room Manager
